Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Analyst with strong expertise in investment operations, position reconciliation, SQL and AWS services. The analyst will be responsible for analyzing position, transaction, and balance data for a books and records platform; answering daily data-led production support inquiries; producing functional documentation for AWS development. This role requires a blend of technical, business, and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on data discovery, analysis, and production support.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze position, transaction, and balance data within the books and records platform to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
• Collaborate with business and technology teams to gather requirements and create clear, actionable business requirement documents for books and records initiatives.
• Develop functional documentation to guide AWS developers and service implementation.
• Use SQL (including Athena) extensively for data discovery, validation, root cause analysis, and production support.
• Partner with agile teams, contributing to backlog refinement, sprint planning, and delivery.
• Provide insights into books and records data flows, dependencies, and reconciliation needs.
• Support production by troubleshooting data issues, identifying gaps, and recommending solutions.
Qualifications
• Proven experience working with IBOR data (positions, transactions, balances) in financial services or asset management.
• Strong SQL skills, including advanced querying, performance optimization, and experience with AWS Athena.
• Understanding of AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, DynamoDB, etc) and ability to document functional requirements for AWS developers.
• Solid understanding of agile methodology and working in cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills for documenting business requirements and functional designs.
Nice to Have
• Familiarity with data governance and data quality practices.
• Experience in production support for large data systems.
• Knowledge of investment operations or portfolio accounting systems.
