Role description
About The Role FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to work for our client within the professional services sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London. Our client is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to design, develop and maintain their business intelligence solutions. You will help transition the organisation to a modern, cloud-based data warehouse and deliver high-quality reporting and analytics using Microsoft’s BI stack. This role combines technical expertise with stakeholder engagement to ensure data-driven decision-making across the business. Responsibilities: BI Solution Development Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models. Implement best practices for data modelling (Kimball-style dimensional models) and optimise performance. Data Integration & Warehousing Support the build and enhancement of the Azure SQL-based data warehouse. Develop ETL/ELT processes and ensure data quality across finance, CRM, HR, and operational systems. Governance & Standards Contribute to establishing BI governance frameworks, including workspace organisation, version control, and release management. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal data security standards. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with business units to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior BI analysts and support data literacy initiatives. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Explore and implement advanced analytics capabilities, including AI-assisted reporting and Microsoft Copilot features. Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes and reduce duplication. About You Proven experience as a BI Developer or similar role, ideally at senior level. Strong proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modelling. Solid SQL skills and experience with Azure SQL Server. Understanding of Kimball dimensional modelling and data warehousing principles. Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Wherescape RED or equivalent). Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks. Excellent communication skills for engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Desirable skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and cloud-based BI ecosystems. Exposure to AI-driven analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot). Experience in mentoring and team leadership. Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements in financial services.
