Role description
About the Company We are seeking a highly experienced Senior BI Developer with deep expertise in Sigma Computing to design and scale a modern, self-service analytics environment. This role is critical in transforming large scale cloud data assets into actionable, real time insights that drive strategic and operational decision making. About the Role As our digital infrastructure footprint expands globally, you will serve as the lead architect for Sigma across the organization. You will design enterprise grade data models, optimize performance for high volume datasets, and enable business stakeholders to independently explore trusted data without compromising governance or performance. This is not a dashboard builder role. We are looking for a data strategist who understands data architecture, warehouse performance, and business context, and who can build a scalable BI ecosystem. Responsibilities Sigma Architecture and Development β€’ Design, develop, and maintain advanced Sigma Workbooks, Datasets, and Data Models. β€’ Architect scalable reporting frameworks using Sigma’s spreadsheet style interface. β€’ Implement reusable components, parameter driven logic, calculated fields, and advanced joins. β€’ Develop structured semantic layers within Sigma to ensure consistency across all reporting assets. β€’ Establish best practices for workbook design, naming conventions, folder structures, and governance. Enterprise Data Modeling β€’ Collaborate closely with Data Engineering teams to design and refine dimensional and fact based data models. β€’ Build and maintain curated β€œGolden Datasets” that serve as the single source of truth across departments. β€’ Validate metric definitions and enforce standard KPI calculations across all analytics assets. β€’ Ensure compatibility between Sigma and underlying data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks. Cloud Data Warehouse Optimization β€’ Optimize complex SQL queries using CTEs, window functions, aggregations, and partitioning strategies. β€’ Monitor query performance and reduce compute costs through warehouse tuning and materialization strategies. β€’ Leverage Sigma materializations and caching effectively for large scale datasets containing millions of rows. β€’ Work with engineering teams to improve indexing, clustering, and storage optimization strategies. Operational Write Back and Planning Enablement β€’ Implement and manage Sigma Input Tables and write back functionality. β€’ Enable business teams to update operational data such as project timelines, budget forecasts, and capacity planning metrics directly within Sigma. β€’ Ensure secure role based access controls for write back workflows. β€’ Maintain data integrity and auditability for all user generated inputs. Business Enablement and Self Service Analytics β€’ Conduct workshops and training sessions for department leaders and operations teams. β€’ Create documentation and usage guides to drive adoption of Sigma explore features. β€’ Promote a governed self service model where business users can analyze data independently while maintaining centralized control. β€’ Act as a strategic advisor to stakeholders, translating business questions into scalable data solutions. Governance and Security β€’ Implement row level security and access control policies. β€’ Ensure compliance with internal data governance standards. β€’ Monitor usage analytics and recommend improvements to data accessibility and performance. Qualifications Required Qualifications Sigma Expertise β€’ 2 to 3+ years of hands on experience working extensively with Sigma Computing. β€’ Advanced knowledge of Sigma formulas, join logic, parameters, input tables, and materialization. β€’ Proven experience building enterprise level workbooks and governed datasets. β€’ Advanced SQL Skills β€’ Strong proficiency in complex SQL including CTEs, window functions, subqueries, and performance tuning. β€’ Experience optimizing queries in large scale cloud data warehouse environments. β€’ Ability to analyze execution plans and improve query efficiency. Data Warehousing Experience β€’ Direct experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or Google BigQuery. β€’ Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, star schemas, and fact table design. β€’ Experience working with multi terabyte datasets in production environments. Data Modeling and Transformation Tools β€’ Hands on experience with dbt for data transformation and modeling. β€’ Understanding of version control, CI/CD processes, and deployment workflows in analytics environments. β€’ Familiarity with ELT based architectures. Preferred Qualifications β€’ Prior experience in Data Center operations, Construction technology, Infrastructure analytics, or Real Estate technology environments. β€’ Understanding of metrics such as Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), Megawatt capacity planning, SLA tracking, and cooling efficiency metrics. β€’ Experience working in high growth infrastructure or energy intensive industries. β€’ Ability to collaborate with Denver based teams when required.
