Role description
Data Analyst Location: Hybrid — Atlanta, GA area Contract: Initial 4-week contract with potential to extend into a long-term engagement We are seeking a Data Operations Analyst with a strong mix of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and business acumen. This role will support data operations, reporting, data quality, and process improvement efforts across the organization. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with SQL, Python, R, ETL processes, data warehousing, and BI/visualization tools, while also being able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This person should be highly detail-oriented, comfortable working with large and complex datasets, and capable of identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement. Responsibilities • Analyze, validate, and maintain data across multiple systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability. • Write advanced SQL queries to extract, transform, troubleshoot, and validate data. • Use Python and/or R for data manipulation, analysis, automation, and process improvement. • Support ETL processes, data pipelines, data integration, and data warehousing initiatives. • Build, enhance, and maintain reports and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker. • Identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, gaps, and anomalies; recommend solutions to improve data integrity. • Partner with technical teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions. • Support data governance, documentation, compliance, privacy, and security best practices. • Work with cloud-based data platforms and storage environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. • Apply statistical analysis concepts to identify trends, summarize findings, and support business decision-making. • Document processes, workflows, data definitions, and reporting logic clearly. • Collaborate across departments to improve data processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency. Required Skills • Strong experience as a Data Operations Analyst, Data Analyst, BI Analyst, Reporting Analyst, or similar role. • Advanced experience with SQL for querying, data validation, troubleshooting, and reporting. • Hands-on experience with Python and/or R for data analysis, automation, and data manipulation. • Strong understanding of ETL processes, data integration, and data warehousing concepts. • Experience with visualization/reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker. • Working knowledge of cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. • Strong understanding of data management, data governance, data privacy, and compliance concepts. • Familiarity with regulations and frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, or similar data privacy standards. • Experience identifying patterns, trends, anomalies, and data quality issues within complex datasets. • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot data issues and optimize processes. • Solid understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics. • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Ability to work effectively with technical teams, business users, and cross-functional stakeholders. Preferred Skills • Experience with Git or other version control tools. • Experience supporting enterprise data governance, master data management, or data quality initiatives. • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or other project delivery methodologies. • Experience working in cloud-based data environments, modern data platforms, or enterprise data warehouses. • Ability to serve as a bridge between business teams and technical data teams. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a hands-on data professional who can work across data operations, analytics, reporting, and governance. This person should be comfortable digging into complex data, identifying issues, improving processes, and helping the business make better decisions through accurate and reliable information. This role requires someone who is both technical and business-minded — someone who can write advanced queries, support data pipelines, build useful reporting, document processes, and clearly explain findings to stakeholders. The initial contract is expected to be 4 weeks, with strong potential for extension into a longer-term engagement.
