Senior Data Analyst Modeler / Technical Business Analyst
Salary: $125,000–$145,000
Company: Financial Services
Location: The contract would run for approximately six months with the opportunity to convert to full time. While on contract, the role is fully remote. If converted, they do require 1–2 days per week onsite in Midtown Manhattan.
About the Role
This hybrid role combines deep business analysis with hands‑on logical data modeling. You’ll partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to modernize legacy platforms, harmonize data across systems, and design future‑state models that support enterprise growth. This is a high‑impact position for someone who can translate complex business processes into clear, scalable technical solutions.
What You’ll Do
Business Analysis & Alignment
• Lead workshops and interviews with SMEs to uncover business rules, workflows, and data needs
• Analyze current‑state applications and document future‑state functional requirements
• Conduct gap analyses between legacy systems and modern business needs
• Create and maintain a standardized business glossary and support data governance efforts
• Translate business requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications
Logical Data Modeling & Technical Execution
• Design and iterate on enterprise‑level logical data models and ER diagrams
• Harmonize data from multiple legacy systems into a unified enterprise model
• Document data lineage, mapping, and transformation logic
• Use SQL to profile, validate, and troubleshoot data across systems
• Partner with engineering teams to ensure alignment with functional and data model requirements
• Support change management as teams transition from legacy structures to the new enterprise model
Project & Stakeholder Engagement
• Contribute to business and technology roadmaps
• Identify and escalate project risks
• Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate cross‑functionally and provide coverage across related initiatives
What You Bring
• 10+ years of experience in financial services, with exposure to cash management, settlements, or onboarding
• Strong background in logical data modeling for complex business applications
• Experience consolidating or modernizing legacy systems
• Proficiency with SQL and enterprise modeling tools
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks
• Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (waterfall, agile, lean)
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and thrive in remote/hybrid environments
• Experience with Confluence, Jira, and Microsoft Office tool
