Role description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Data Analyst is responsible for designing, prototyping, and delivering high-impact business intelligence solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role focuses on developing Power BI reporting products that surface key business insights for internal stakeholders, with strong emphasis on intuitive UI/UX design tailored to diverse user personas. The Data Analyst also partners closely with business customers to provide ad hoc analyses and actionable insights that support operational, financial, and strategic objectives.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Intelligence & Reporting:
β’ Design, prototype, and deliver Power BI dashboards and reports that provide clear, actionable insights aligned to business objectives and key performance indicators.
β’ Translate business questions and analytical requirements into effective data models, measures, and visualizations using industry-standard BI and analytics practices.
β’ Apply strong UI/UX principles to ensure reports are intuitive, accessible, and optimized for different user personas, including executives, managers, and operational users.
β’ Partner with stakeholders to iteratively refine reporting solutions based on feedback, usage patterns, and evolving business needs.
β’ Ensure reporting solutions follow best practices for performance, scalability, data accuracy, and governance.
Ad Hoc Analysis & Insight Generation:
β’ Respond to ad hoc analytical requests from business partners by performing exploratory analysis, trend analysis, and root cause investigations.
β’ Synthesize complex data findings into clear narratives, insights, and recommendations suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
β’ Proactively identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities within data and communicate insights that drive measurable business outcomes.
Data Analysis & Modeling:
β’ Analyze large, complex datasets from multiple sources to identify patterns, correlations, and opportunities for improvement.
β’ Develop and maintain calculated fields, measures, and semantic models that support consistent and reliable reporting.
β’ Validate data accuracy and completeness, partnering with data engineering and data governance teams to resolve data quality issues.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
β’ Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to understand requirements and ensure analytical solutions align with business priorities.
β’ Serve as a trusted analytics partner by helping stakeholders interpret data, understand limitations, and make informed decisions.
β’ Contribute to documentation, training materials, and enablement sessions to support adoption of BI products and self-service analytics.
Standards, Governance & Continuous Improvement
β’ Adhere to organizational standards for data security, privacy, and governance across all reporting and analytics solutions.
β’ Continuously evaluate and improve reporting frameworks, visualization standards, and analytical approaches to enhance usability and impact.
β’ Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and new features related to Power BI, data visualization, and analytics.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
β’ 10+ years of experience in a data analyst, business intelligence, or analytics role.
β’ Demonstrated experience designing and developing Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models in a professional environment.
