Role description
Senior Data Analyst - Blood Supply Chain Job Summary Working in a dynamic team you will use your data analysis skills and subject matter expertise to provide analytics, business intelligence and insights to help drive understanding and improvement across the blood supply chain. You will help us to deliver a robust and integrated approach to turn data into action. Your work will ensure that a critical part of the national health infrastructure continues to deliver its vital services for patients. As a Data Analysis expert, you will excel at problem solving, have a passionate interest in delivering thought provoking, clear and innovative analysis and analytics. With an inquisitive mindset, data storytelling must be at the heart of everything you do. This fixed term post will support a significant and complex change programme, helping to shape and implement a new technological solution and way of operating that will help ensure that NHSBT remains ready to meet its core mission of saving and improving lives. You will undertake an extensive induction and training programme and receive ongoing development to support you in your role and in achieving your future career ambitions. Main duties of the job β€’ Supporting the Head of Performance & Business Intelligence in providing highly complex data analysis and analytics to support the Blood Supply directorate and NHSBT more widely. β€’ Developing, enhancing, maintaining, and publishing a range of supply chain data, analysis, and analytics. Ensuring compliance with data protection and information governance legislation and organisational policies. β€’ Producing detailed analysis, data and reports as part of scheduled work and in response to ad hoc requests, including under the Freedom of Information Act. β€’ Extracting, integrating, and interrogating data from a variety of source systems using industry standard tools, such as MS-SQL, PowerBI and MS Excel. β€’ Supporting Blood Supply change projects, operations, and programmes by designing, building and publishing specific data sets, dashboards and visualisations. β€’ Acting as a subject matter expert for Blood Supply data analysis and interpretation of the data, providing professional support, advice, recommendations, and solutions to complex problems. You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice. About You Experience and Knowledge β€’ Substantial experience of extracting, manipulating, and integrating large data sets using industry standard tools (such as SQL). β€’ Knowledge and demonstrable experience in applying analytical and statistical techniques to deliver insightful and actionable analysis. β€’ Ability to prepare and produce concise, insightful, and actionable communications for dissemination to senior leaders and a broad range of stakeholders as required. β€’ Experience of business intelligence solutions to create data visualisations/dashboards to inform decision making (e.g., Power BI). β€’ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. β€’ Proven first line staff management experience. β€’ Good knowledge of relevant statutory directives, i.e., Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act, and public sector Information Governance principles. β€’ Experience of analysing complex data and presenting reports in a structured, accessible fashion. β€’ Attention to detail with the ability to find key messages and trends within large and complex data sets. Qualifications And Training β€’ Educated to master’s level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area. β€’ Advanced computer and analytical skills and/or experience, including advanced MS Excel and industry standard analysis/analytics software packages. β€’ Demonstrate commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
