Role description

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Data Architect to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 3-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a remote role.

Our client is seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of data architectures that support their data security and value enablement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in data modeling, Databricks, and data governance, with a pragmatic approach to solving complex data challenges. This role requires the ability to engage with C-level executives and collaborate across time zones, primarily with teams based in the United States.

Responsibilities

   • Develop and implement scalable and secure data architectures, including data lakes, warehouses, and lakehouses, to support analytics and real-time processing

   • Create and maintain logical and physical data models, ensuring data consistency, integrity, and quality across platforms

   • Leverage Databricks to design and optimise data pipelines, ensuring efficient data integration and transformation processes

   • Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures, including metadata management, data lineage, and compliance with relevant regulations

   • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and clients to understand requirements and deliver scalable data solutions

   • Provide thought leadership in data architecture, influencing data strategy and driving best practices across the organisation

   • Work effectively with global teams, accommodating time zone differences to ensure seamless project delivery

Requirements

   • Minimum of 5 years in data architecture roles, with a strong focus on data modeling, Databricks, and data governance

   • Proficiency in Databricks, data modeling tools, and data governance frameworks

   • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

   • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and C-level executives

   • Ability to balance innovative solutions with practical implementation considerations, ensuring alignment with business objectives

   • Experience working in cross-functional teams and managing relationships with stakeholders across different time zones

   • Relevant certifications in data architecture or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer)

   • Experience in industries such as financial services, healthcare, or retail

   • Familiarity with data governance tools such as MS Purview or Unity Catalog within Databricks
