SKILLS REQUIRED
Primary (Must-Have):
• Alation Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with Alation Data Catalog configuration, object maintenance, and workflow design.
• Big Data Engineering: Proficiency in Hadoop ecosystems, including job/query tuning, refactoring, and code optimization.
• Stakeholder Communication: Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to bridge the gap between non-technical business stakeholders and technical data engineering teams.
• Data Lifecycle Management: Experience documenting data lineage, usage patterns, and stewardship responsibilities.
Secondary (Good to Have):
• Data Quality: Proven ability to establish and enforce validation rules and monitoring practices.
• Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional product teams to translate complex business requirements into technical deliverables.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Senior Developer with 10–14 years of experience to lead the maintenance and optimization of our enterprise data assets. You will be the primary technical authority for our Alation Data Catalog, ensuring that data is discoverable, transparent, and trusted. This role requires a balance of high-level technical skill in Hadoop and Alation and the "soft" skill of acting as a translator between business users and engineering teams to ensure data governance goals are met.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Configure and maintain Alation Data Catalog objects to ensure accurate representation of enterprise data assets.
• Design and refine Alation Workflows to document data lifecycles, stewardship responsibilities, and usage patterns.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to implement robust solutions on Hadoop and Alation.
• Optimize Hadoop jobs and queries by tuning configurations and refactoring code to reduce latency and resource consumption.
• Establish data quality validation rules and proactive monitoring practices to ensure the reliability of information for executive decision-making.
• Act as the central point of contact for business stakeholders to promote data transparency and accountability.
