Role Description The Senior Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures to support analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making. This contract, remote role involves working closely with data analysts, data scientists, and engineering teams to gather requirements, model data, and ensure data quality and reliability across multiple systems. Daily responsibilities include implementing and optimizing ETL processes, managing data warehousing solutions, and improving performance, security, and governance of data platforms. The Senior Data Engineer will also troubleshoot production issues, document technical solutions, and recommend best practices for data engineering across the organization. Qualifications • 5+ years of strong data engineering skills, including experience with modern data platforms, distributed systems, and large-scale data processing. • Proficiency in data modeling and designing efficient, scalable schemas for transactional and analytical workloads. • Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) tools and frameworks, including building, automating, and optimizing data pipelines. • Experience with data warehousing concepts and solutions, including star/snowflake schemas and dimensional modeling. • Ability to work with data analytics teams, supporting dashboarding, reporting, and advanced analytics initiatives. • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering (such as Python, Java, or Scala) and SQL. • Experience with cloud data services (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) and related data tools (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Airflow) is highly beneficial. • Solid understanding of data security, governance, and best practices for data quality and reliability. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote, contract environment. • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
