Role description
Senior Data Engineer (Azure / Databricks) £500/day Outside IR35 Manchester – Hybrid (1 day per week onsite) 6-month contract We’re working with a well-known organisation looking to bring in a Data Engineer to support the ongoing development of their Azure-based data platform. This role will focus on building and optimising scalable data pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and wider business decision-making across the organisation. You’ll be working closely with data, product, and business teams to deliver reliable and practical data solutions in a modern cloud environment. Responsibilities Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured datasets Develop ELT workflows using Azure Databricks and PySpark Write efficient SQL queries and support data modelling activities Support batch and near real-time data processing requirements Work across Azure services including Storage Accounts, Event Hubs, and Key Vault Help improve data quality, governance, and platform reliability Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions Required experience Experience working as a Data Engineer within an Azure environment Hands-on experience with Databricks and PySpark Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases Experience supporting and maintaining production data pipelines Good communication skills and ability to work within cross-functional teams Nice to have Exposure to streaming technologies or real-time data processing Experience with data governance tooling or Unity Catalog Exposure to Salesforce or Data Cloud integrations
