Role description
We have an immediate need for a Senior Data Engineer to help modernize and scale the data foundation supporting next-generation analytics and AI initiatives. This is a hands-on individual contributor role focused on designing and implementing modern data architecture, improving data quality and governance, and transitioning legacy data workflows into a scalable cloud-based environment. The ideal candidate is a self-directed engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges, establishing technical standards, and building scalable solutions that enable both current analytics needs and future AI capabilities. This is a long-term, W-2 contract opportunity with potential for conversion to full-time with our Fortune 50 client, based on performance and business needs. Key Responsibilities: • Design and build scalable data models and transformation frameworks • Develop and maintain data pipelines in BigQuery and Dataform (or dbt) • Implement Medallion-style data architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Semantic layers) • Improve data quality, documentation, governance, and development standards • Migrate and modernize legacy ETL processes and workflows • Review code, enforce best practices, and support analytics teams through scalable data solutions • Partner with technical stakeholders to create a foundation for future AI and ML initiatives Requirements: • 5+ years of data engineering experience in production environments • Strong SQL and data modeling expertise • Experience with BigQuery, Dataform, dbt, or similar cloud data platforms • Python development experience • Experience with AI, LLM, MCP, or agent-based technologies • Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale data pipelines • Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehouse design • Experience with Git, code reviews, and modern development practices • Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical deliverables Nice to Have >> • Retail, e-commerce, or digital analytics experience \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ Come join our exceptional team of passionate and professional individuals dedicated to delivering outstanding results.
