Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support enterprise data initiatives for a leading retail client. This role is heavily focused on hands-on development of scalable data pipelines and data models within a modern cloud data ecosystem, primarily leveraging Snowflake and ERP data sources such as NetSuite. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in modern ETL/ELT frameworks, advanced SQL development, retail domain experience, and a proven track record in improving data reliability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data models in Snowflake
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows using tools such as Airflow, dbt, Fivetran, integrate.io, or similar technologies
• Support and enhance reporting and analytics platforms including Sigma Computing or equivalent BI tools
• Work extensively with ERP data sources, particularly NetSuite, in a retail environment
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and troubleshoot data pipeline and platform issues
• Implement and maintain data quality, monitoring, and alerting frameworks
• Improve and standardize data engineering processes, platform practices, and operational workflows
• Collaborate cross-functionally with analytics, reporting, and business stakeholders
Role Breakdown
• 70% Hands-on Data Engineering (pipeline development, modeling, optimization)
• 20% Platform Reliability (monitoring, alerting, data quality)
• 10% Incident Response & RCA
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Strong experience with Snowflake (core requirement)
• Hands-on expertise with ETL/ELT tools such as:
• Airflow
• dbt
• Fivetran
• integrate.io
• or similar technologies
• Advanced SQL skills with experience handling large-scale relational databases
• Experience supporting BI/reporting platforms such as Sigma Computing or similar
• Experience working with ERP systems/data, preferably NetSuite
• Retail industry experience is highly preferred
• Strong troubleshooting and RCA capabilities
• Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, and data quality frameworks
• Ability to enhance and standardize data platform best practices and processes
Preferred Background
• Experience in retail or consumer-facing organizations
• Strong understanding of operational and transactional ERP datasets
• Proven ability to work in fast-paced, highly collaborative environments
