Role description
About the Role As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in enabling modern data engineering and analytics solutions for a Fortune 100 organization. You will be part of a highly collaborative and innovative Data Engineering & Analytics team within the Technology group. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Azure data platforms, big data technologies, and analytics to help build scalable data solutions, drive insights, and contribute to a strong data-driven culture across the enterprise. Key Responsibilities • Partner with source system teams, product owners, and stakeholders to design and deliver scalable data and analytics solutions • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines (batch & streaming) using Azure technologies • Build and optimize data lakes, data warehouses, and semantic models • Implement data migration and modernization solutions using Azure services such as: • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) • Azure Data Factory (ADF) • Azure Databricks • Azure Functions, Event Hub, Stream Analytics • Own the end-to-end data lifecycle, including: • Data ingestion, transformation, modeling, and validation • Infrastructure, security, and networking considerations • CI/CD pipeline implementation and automation • Performance tuning, deployment, and production support • Contribute to a DevOps-driven product model, owning solutions from development through support • Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and data governance policies • Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and foster a collaborative engineering culture Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience) • 7–9 years of experience in data engineering or large-scale software development • Strong expertise in SQL and Python • Hands-on experience with: • Azure Data Lake (ADLS) and data modeling • Core Azure services: ADF, Databricks, Event Hub • Experience building scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) • Solid understanding of big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark) • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub or Azure DevOps • Familiarity with cloud security, monitoring, and performance optimization Preferred Qualifications • 5+ years of experience working in Agile/DevOps product-based environments • Strong experience with Azure ecosystem, including: • Azure Functions, Stream Analytics, Azure DevOps • Azure Blob Storage, Data Lake, Power Apps • Experience with full-stack development alongside data engineering • Exposure to streaming frameworks and real-time data processing • Experience across multiple data platforms: • Teradata, Snowflake, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra • Familiarity with BI & analytics tools: • Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, Alteryx, Grafana • Experience with data governance & privacy tools: • Alation, Informatica Axon/EDC, Monte Carlo, BigID • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) • Industry experience in Travel / Tourism (nice to have) Skills & Certifications • Deep expertise in Azure-native data engineering and architecture • Strong understanding of data ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers • Azure Certifications (preferred) • Apache Spark Certification (preferred) Mandatory Skill Highlights • Azure Data Lake modeling and engineering • Core Azure stack: ADLS, ADF, Databricks • Big data processing (Spark) • Security and monitoring in cloud environments Why Join • Work with a Fortune 100 enterprise on high-impact data initiatives • Be part of an innovation-driven, collaborative engineering culture • Opportunity to lead, mentor, and grow within a modern data ecosystem • Exposure to cutting-edge cloud and analytics technologies
