Senior Data Engineer (Contract) About Harnham Harnham is a specialist in data and analytics recruitment. About the client Our client is a healthcare and financial technology organisation modernising its finance and accounting data platforms. The team is building cloud‑native ingestion and analytics capabilities that support reporting, reconciliation, and operational finance at scale. Role Details • Role: Senior Data Engineer • Location: Hybrid near NYC 1 day per week or fully remote • Pay range: $60 to $80 per hour • Start: Target mid‑May 2026 • Length: Contract through 31 December 2026 • Utilisation: 40 hours per week • Employment type: Contract (W2 or C2C) The role This is a hands‑on senior data engineering contract with full ownership of the ingestion layer for finance and accounting data. You will design and operate robust ingestion pipelines, model data in Snowflake, and deliver analytics‑ready datasets used for reporting, reconciliation, and financial close. The role requires strong finance domain knowledge and the ability to operate independently in a regulated environment. Key responsibilities • Own end‑to‑end delivery of finance and accounting data solutions from source ingestion to production. • Design, build, and operate reliable batch and near‑real‑time ingestion pipelines. • Implement Snowflake data architectures and dbt transformation pipelines. • Support financial reporting, reconciliations, close processes, and downstream analytics. • Ensure data integrity, auditability, lineage, and validation checks. • Mentor engineers and set standards for quality, observability, and governance. Requirements: must have • 4+ years of professional data engineering experience with deep ingestion ownership. • Extensive hands‑on Snowflake experience. • Experience using Snowflake Cortex (AI‑assisted development within Snowflake). • Strong SQL skills including performance tuning and reconciliation logic. • Experience supporting finance and accounting domains (GL, revenue, payments, billing, claims). • Ability to work independently and communicate with finance stakeholders. Nice to have • dbt for transformations in Snowflake. • Python for data engineering and automation. • Experience with near‑real‑time ingestion patterns. • Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and Agile delivery. • Regulated industry experience such as healthcare or financial services.
