Role description
Position: Senior Cloud Data Engineer – Data Modernization
Overview:
Lead design and development of cloud-based data management systems for large-scale data modernization initiatives.
Develop consolidated enterprise data platforms using modern cloud tools (AWS, Snowflake) and re-platform legacy systems.
Enable analytics and reporting for business stakeholders, researchers, and data teams.
Communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders to implement collaborative solutions.
Establish best practices and processes for cloud data platform development and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement data pipelines in centralized and decentralized architectures (including Data Mesh).
Ensure compliance with data security policies and cloud data governance standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable, high-performance cloud data solutions.
Evaluate and recommend cloud products and services for data curation, storage, and processing.
Monitor and optimize cloud data platform performance.
Document cloud data engineering strategies, designs, and processes.
Lead team design sessions and provide guidance on ETL and data layer design.
Implement data management and governance processes.
Deliver solutions on time, meeting technical and business requirements.
Leverage Informatica (IICS), Snowflake, SQL, and Python to solve complex data use cases.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in data pipeline design, cloud data architecture, data warehousing, data modeling, ETL, and system engineering.
Knowledge of enterprise and decentralized data architectures (e.g., Data Mesh).
3-5 years of experience developing AWS-based cloud data solutions.
5+ years of experience with cloud database platforms, particularly Snowflake.
Experience creating and maintaining end-to-end data pipelines.
Strong communication skills for technical and business discussions.
Proficiency with Unix/Linux and shell scripting.
Experience with large, multi-terabyte cloud data platforms.
Understanding of system and database administration, storage, backup/recovery, and networking.
3-5 years of experience with Informatica (IICS), Airflow (orchestration), and GitHub CI/CD.
Experience handling sensitive healthcare data and compliance with HIPAA and other data privacy regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS or Cloud Data Engineer certification.
Snowflake certification.
Experience with Cognos and/or Tableau reporting.
Advanced Informatica (IICS) and Airflow expertise.
