Senior Data Engineer – Contract (Outside IR35) A leading financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support the modernisation of its data platform on AWS using Databricks. This is a 6-month contract, offering £550 per day, outside IR35, with a largely remote working model and occasional visits to London. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned contractor to play a key role in a high-impact transformation programme, working with large-scale data and modern cloud technologies. The Role The successful contractor will be responsible for designing and building robust data solutions, helping the business unlock value from its data assets. Working closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders, the Senior Data Engineer will translate business requirements into scalable, high-quality data engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities • Designing, building and optimising ETL pipelines on AWS • Working extensively with Databricks to process and analyse large datasets • Writing high-quality, production-ready code in Python and SQL • Leading and contributing to the migration of terabytes of data to modern platforms • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver technical solutions • Ensuring best practices around data quality, performance and security Required Experience • Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer • Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Databricks • Advanced Python and SQL development skills • Demonstrable experience building large-scale ETL/data pipelines • Previous experience within the financial services sector • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management experience Additional Information • Rate: £550 per day • IR35: Outside IR35 • Location: Remote with occasional London visits • Eligibility: Candidates must have the right to work in the UK This contract offers the chance to work on a genuinely challenging and rewarding programme within a forward-thinking financial services environment.
