Summary Do you have experience of providing data engineering expertise, on an Azure Platform project? This consulting opportunity is to support our client (a leading wealth management organisation) with their Azure Data Platform transition. As highly skilled Lead Data Engineer, you will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of data solutions on the Azure Data Platform. This role requires technical leadership, an agile approach, and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality data solutions. The project needs a consultant who: • Extensive Technical Expertise in Azure Data Services: Proven experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, and Data Lake. • Strong Leadership and Agile Mindset: Ability to lead data engineering teams, prioritise technical work alongside business needs, and drive continuous improvement through agile practices. • Proficiency in Data Engineering Tools and Languages: Skilled in SQL (T-SQL), Spark, Python, and ETL processes, with hands-on experience in integration, data processing, and visualisation. This role can be conducted primarily remotely, but some occasional travel to offices in London or South Coast will be expected. Key services: The key services that you'll be asked to provide are: • Develop, implement, and maintain data ingestion, storage, processing, and integration solutions on the Azure Data Platform. • Act as technical lead, ensuring high quality, best practices, and continuous improvement throughout delivery cycles. • Collaborate closely with Technology Product Owner to manage tasks, risk escalation, and backlog prioritisation. • Support the migration of legacy solutions onto the strategic Azure data platform. • Drive and contribute to establishing and embedding standardised data solution methodologies. • Promote Framework extensions and manage reduction of technical debt. Mandatory Requirements: Successful consultants will be able to demonstrate the following: • Demonstrable experience leading data engineering teams, prioritising technical deliveries alongside business requirements. • Agile mindset with proven capability in adapting to change and driving continuous improvement. • Deep technical experience with Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake). • Expert knowledge of SQL including T-SQL (queries, views, stored procedures, functions). • Proven skills in integration and ETL design and delivery (SSIS, Azure Data Factory). • Experience in data visualisation tools (Tableau, QlikView, Power BI, Business Objects). • Hands-on experience with Spark programming in Python and at least one additional language (e.g., R, Scala). • Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills. Optional Requirements: It will also be advantageous if you have: • Familiarity with Microsoft BI technologies (SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, Power Platform).
