Role description
Senior Data Engineer Previous experience working within a UK government agency is essential. Contract: Initial 3-month contract Day rate: £540 per day, Inside IR35 Location: Morpeth, Northumberland Working pattern: On site once per fortnight Clearance: BPSS Start date: ASAP The Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support a major data transformation programme within a UK public sector organisation. The role will focus on designing and delivering data integration, transformation and visualisation solutions using Microsoft Fabric. You will work with data from contact centre platforms, CRM systems and other line-of-business applications to provide operational insight and support channel shift analysis. As a senior member of the team, you will also provide technical leadership, mentor less experienced engineers and help establish shared data engineering standards. Key Responsibilities • Design and deliver data integration and transformation solutions using Microsoft Fabric. • Build robust bronze, silver and gold data pipelines. • Integrate data from contact centre platforms, CRM systems and line-of-business applications. • Support the integration of platforms such as Amazon Connect into Microsoft Fabric. • Implement data matching, validation and data quality rules. • Design and optimise Lakehouse and semantic models. • Develop intuitive and informative Power BI dashboards. • Support operational reporting and channel shift analysis. • Provide technical leadership across the data engineering team. • Mentor and support less experienced team members. • Establish and contribute to shared engineering standards and technical documentation. • Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand reporting and insight requirements. • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, planning and delivery activities. Essential Experience • Previous experience working within a UK government agency. • At least seven years of commercial data engineering experience. • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric. • Extensive experience delivering data integration, transformation and visualisation solutions. • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Azure. • Experience working across Azure and AWS environments. • Strong experience building bronze, silver and gold data pipelines. • Experience implementing data matching and data quality frameworks. • Strong understanding of Lakehouse architecture. • Experience designing and optimising semantic models for Power BI. • Strong Power BI dashboard development experience. • Experience integrating CRM systems and line-of-business applications. • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers. • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. • Experience working within Agile, cross-functional delivery teams. • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and contribute to engineering standards. Desirable Experience • Experience integrating contact centre platforms with Microsoft Fabric. • Experience working with Amazon Connect. • Experience delivering data solutions that support channel shift analysis and operational insight. Additional Information The successful consultant will be required to complete BPSS clearance before starting the assignment. The role requires attendance at the organisation’s Morpeth office once every two weeks.
