Role description
Experis are partnering with an organisation who are undertaking a significant transformation and are seeing a Senior Data Engineer with strong Microsoft Fabric expertise to support the delivery of a modern data platform. This role is Inside IR35, and is for an initial 3 months (with the potential to extend past this date). This is a hands-on contract opportunity where you'll be expected to make an immediate impact, designing and delivering production-ready data solutions within a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities • Build and Design end-to-end Data Pipelines in Microsoft Fabric • Develop scalable transformations using PySpark/SparkSQL/Notebooks • Structure data using Lakehouse/Warehouse modelling approaches • Implement data quality, validation, and monitoring controls • Optimise pipeline performance and execution reliability • Document data flows, transformations and dependencies Required Skills • Strong hands on experience with Microsoft Fabric (OR Databricks) • Advanced PySpark/Spark SQL • Strong Python and SQL/T-SQL capability • Experience with Azure SQL/SQL Managed Instance • Proven Track record delivering end-to-end data pipelines in production Desirable Skills • Experience with Power BI/semantic layer integration • Exposure to Fabric Dataflows Gen2/notebooks • Experience migrating from legacy platforms • Data Governance / metadata tooling This role will be based in Edinburgh (2-3 days a week on-site). They are also open to individuals based in the wider Central Belt, however there will still be an expectation to visit the Edinburgh office 1x per week.
