Position Title: Senior Data Engineer Location: Raleigh, North Carolina, United States Position Status: Contract Pay Rate: $75.00/hr W2 Top Requirements • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or database architecture, with a proven track record of building business data layers for complex business modeling • Deep understanding of SaaS industry data relationships, including ARR, Bookings, and subscription lifecycles • Mastery of advanced SQL and experience migrating data from raw sources into high-performance, analyst-ready data models Job Description We are seeking a Principal/Sr Data Business Data Engineer for a 6–9 month contract based in Raleigh, NC. This role is designed for a high-impact builder who can immediately take ownership of our centralized financial data layer. The primary focus is on building, improving, and maintaining the data infrastructure that serves as the "Engine Room" for the Finance & Strategy team. You will use our Enterprise Data Warehouse and various Source Systems to build and scale the Analyst-Ready Data Layer, ensuring that Finance & Strategy can deliver high-quality reporting and analysis. Key Responsibilities • Business Data Execution: Develop and maintain the dedicated business data layer, utilizing structured warehouse schemas and agile ad-hoc tables to eliminate manual data prep and ensure a ready-to-use foundation for analysis. • Operationalizing Logic: Partner with the Data Engineering teams to migrate mature, ad-hoc financial logic into standardized, enterprise production pipelines. • Advanced SQL Development: Utilize advanced SQL for complex data manipulation to build and optimize data structures that specifically support SaaS financial modeling, such as ARR waterfalls and OpEx leverage. • Integrity & Traceability: Maintain rigorous data hygiene protocols and transformation-layer traceability to guarantee that financial outputs are valid, auditable, and board-ready. Candidate Profile • Immediate Impact: Ability to quickly get up to speed on existing Databricks-based architectures and take ownership of active business data engineering projects. • Data Architect: 8+ years in data engineering or database architecture, with a proven track record of building business data layers for complex business modeling. • SaaS Industry Expertise: Deep understanding of the data relationships required to model ARR, Bookings, and subscription lifecycles. • Technical Power User: Mastery of advanced SQL and experience moving data from raw sources into functional, high-performance business models. • Systems Proficiency: Technical expertise in the data structures of Salesforce, NetSuite, Coupa, and UKG platforms. • Business Acumen: Adept at migrating complex business logic out of individual, manual spreadsheets and into a transparent, auditable, and code-based data environment to ensure data integrity and analytical rigor.
