Role description
Data Engineer – Contract, London, remote (some European Travel) competitive day rate.
Key Responsibilities
This individual will be an enthusiastic Data Engineer to support the delivery of a data transformation. Working as part of a new team, you will work on establishing a robust and scalable data platform for the business. You will play a key role in driving the ambition to create a best-in-class data engineering function.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for collecting, processing, and storing large datasets.
• Develop and optimize database systems, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide support for analytics.
• Implement data integration and transformation processes (ETL) from various sources to ensure high-quality, accessible data.
Role Requirements
• Strong working knowledge of Azure Cloud Platforms, or transferable skills from other cloud platforms
• Experience using SQL for database management essential
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, or Scala)
• Experience with data pipeline frameworks and ETL tools and familiarity with big data technologies
• Understanding of version control principles and tools essential
• Knowledge of data integration tools and languages (e.g., APIs, JSON, XML, Web Services) desirable
• The ability to resolve complex and non-routine issues and identify improvements in the testing and validation of data accuracy
• Enthusiasm to develop your skills, take responsibility and work within an ambitious and rapidly developing data teams.
This is a contract role for 4-6 months which will extend with new projects, if initial implementation successful.
