Role description
Data Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to join a collaborative data engineering team focused on building and enhancing modern data pipelines that power analytics and AI initiatives. This individual will help expand the team's delivery capacity by developing scalable data solutions, modernizing existing processes, and partnering closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality data products.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, enjoys working across a variety of technologies, and is motivated by solving business problems rather than being tied to a specific toolset. Success in this role requires a collaborative mindset, strong technical execution, and the ability to thrive in an Agile, co-creation environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Build and enhance data integrations supporting analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives.
• Develop and optimize data workflows using AWS-based data platforms and modern data engineering practices.
• Work with data sourced from enterprise systems including SAP and cloud data warehouses.
• Help modernize legacy SQL Server/SSIS processes into scalable cloud-based solutions.
• Collaborate with data engineers, BI developers, and cross-functional business partners to deliver high-impact data solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and backlog refinement while managing work through Jira.
• Contribute to source control, code quality, and deployment best practices using GitHub.
• Support a collaborative engineering culture by sharing ideas, partnering across teams, and continuously improving technical processes.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and help evaluate new approaches that improve business outcomes.
Required Qualifications
• Experience building and supporting end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Strong data engineering experience within AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with modern data integration platforms such as Matillion or similar ETL tools.
• Experience working with SQL and cloud data warehouses (Amazon Redshift preferred).
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and Jira.
• Experience using Git/GitHub for source control.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
• Adaptable mindset with a willingness to learn new technologies and solve problems creatively.
Preferred Qualifications
• Python development experience.
• Experience creating dashboards or supporting analytics in Power BI.
• Exposure to SAP data integrations.
• Experience supporting AI or machine learning data initiatives.
• Familiarity with graph databases or emerging data technologies.
What We're Looking For
• A hands-on engineer who enjoys building and improving data platforms.
• Someone who is curious, flexible, and open to new ideas rather than attached to a single technology stack.
• A collaborative teammate who thrives in a co-creation culture and enjoys partnering with others to solve complex business challenges.
• An engineer who balances technical excellence with a focus on delivering meaningful business outcomes.
The projected hourly range for this position is $70 to $80.
• On-Demand Group (ODG) provides employee benefits which includes healthcare, dental, and vision insurance. ODG is an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
