Senior Data Engineer

Insight Global is currently hiring a Senior Data Engineer for a large healthcare client. This role can sit FULLY REMOTE and will be a 7-9 month contract only. They are looking for somebody who can work Monday through Friday during eastern standard hours. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, building, maintaining, and optimizing scalable data pipelines and solutions within Google Cloud Platform. Responsibilities • Support ongoing maintenance and improvement of a GCP-based data platform, ensuring reliability and performance • Analyze, troubleshoot, and stabilize existing data jobs and pipelines, improving efficiency and scalability • Lead lift-and-shift migrations from legacy cloud environments to modern GCP architecture • Modernize and refactor legacy Python and SQL codebases, establishing standardized development practices • Write and optimize complex SQL queries across platforms such as BigQuery and Snowflake • Support and drive GitHub-based deployments and migrations, including CI/CD best practices • Contribute to the buildout and evolution of new GCP architecture, including scalable frameworks and processes • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on modernization strategies and cloud best practices • Implement and promote cloud architecture standards and scalable operational procedures • Operate as a standalone contributor, independently owning deliverables while remaining collaborative Required Qualifications • 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering or similar role • Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud architecture design • Proven ability to scale cloud jobs and data pipelines • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering and ETL development • Experience modernizing legacy systems and migrating to cloud-native architecture • Hands-on experience with GitHub and version control best practices • Needs to be able to work stand alone
