We are seeking a skilled and collaborative Data/Software Engineer to join the technology team at a leading NYC-based investment and financial services firm. This role involves building and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure that support high-stakes decision-making across the firm.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a consultative mindset—someone who enjoys working closely with non-engineering stakeholders to transform data requests into actionable solutions.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Airflow or other ETL orchestration platforms.
Integrate diverse data sources into a centralized platform, ensuring accuracy, performance, and reliability.
Translate non-technical requests into clear engineering specifications and deliver clean, business-ready data products.
Leverage cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP/BigQuery) to scale and optimize data workflows.
Collaborate across teams—investment analysts, operations, research—to enable data-driven decisions.
Write production-quality code with attention to reusability, performance, and documentation.
Participate in architectural discussions and help drive improvements to our data systems.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in data engineering or software development roles.
Fluency in Python and SQL, with strong data manipulation and transformation skills.
Practical experience with Airflow, or similar orchestration/workflow tools.
Familiarity with GCP, BigQuery, or similar cloud-based data platforms.
Strong communication skills, especially with non-technical or business-facing teams.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the financial domain (e.g., investment data, market data, or reporting systems).
Familiarity with containerized environments and version control best practices (Docker, Git, CI/CD).
Understanding of data warehousing principles and modern data architecture.
