Job Title: Lead Data Engineer
Location: Bellevue, WA - Locals Preferred | Hybrid
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Rate: $61.52/he on W2

WHAT YOU WILL DO
→ Design and implement end-to-end data platform architecture — ingestion, processing, storage, and serving — with near real-time delivery at a 15-minute SLA
→ Build scalable pipelines using Databricks/Spark for large-scale processing, Delta Lake for ACID-compliant storage, and Snowflake for data warehousing and analytics
→ Design and implement real-time pipelines using Kafka/Azure Event Hubs — enabling incremental processing and efficient data updates
→ Implement ETL/ELT pipelines with strong data modeling practices across batch and streaming workloads
→ Establish data quality frameworks including validation, completeness, and consistency checks — implementing monitoring, alerting, and data observability
→ Define and enforce data governance, lineage, and metadata standards across the platform
→ Design semantic models and curated data layers for Power BI/Microsoft Fabric dashboards — ensuring consistent, accurate, and high-performance reporting
→ Optimize pipelines and storage for large-scale datasets (TB/PB) — implementing partitioning, indexing, caching, and performance tuning strategies
→ Lead and mentor a team of data engineers — driving best practices in coding, architecture, and delivery
→ Collaborate with Technical Product Managers, BI teams, and business stakeholders — managing technical risks, dependencies, and roadmap execution
MUST HAVE ✅
• Strong data engineering and platform architecture experience at Lead level
• Databricks, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake — deep hands-on expertise
• Snowflake or equivalent cloud data warehouse — production-scale experience
• Streaming technologies — Kafka and/or Azure Event Hubs — hands-on
• Data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and pipeline architecture
• Data quality frameworks — validation, monitoring, and observability tools
• Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric — familiarity with semantic model design and dashboard enablement
• Strong Python and SQL programming skills
• Technical leadership — ability to lead and mentor data engineering teams
• Azure ecosystem experience — ADF, ADLS, AKS preferred
NICE TO HAVE ⭐
• Real-time analytics platform experience
• Data governance and MDM framework exposure
• CI/CD and DevOps practices for data platforms

EDUCATION
Required
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or related field
• Demonstrated Lead-level data engineering and platform architecture experience
