Location: MN-Inver Grove Heights, Hybrid 3-4 days onsite
Overview: Every Turnberry consultant belongs to a practice, an internal group of consultants and leaders with shared experience and expertise. Each of these practices aligns to one of the core services Turnberry offers to clients. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will join Turnberry's Data Strategy and Intelligence practice and service. This service provides insights into company data, advanced analytics solutions, robust data governance, and tailored solutions for specific data challenges.
Responsibilities
β’ Cloud Data Platforms
β’ Utilize cloud data warehouses using Snowflake and AWS, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability of data pipelines
β’ Python Development
β’ Develop, optimize, and maintain data processing scripts and applications using Python to support various big data ingestion tasks
β’ Adhere to, improve, and contribute perspective to programming and development deadlines for the team
β’ ELT Process Management
β’ Assist with architecting and implementing of Extract-Load-Transform (ELT) processes, including AWS Lambda functions, to ensure efficient and accurate data loading between systems
β’ Data Transformation
β’ Utilize Snowflakeβs functionality of tasks, streams, stored procedures, dynamic tables, and dbt (data build tool) to model raw data into a consumable format for data engineers, analysts, and scientists
β’ Business Integration
β’ Understand business processes, data flows, and strategies for business units and work collaboratively on their data needs
β’ Documentation and Standards
β’ Produce, maintain, and encourage high-quality documentation to ensure transparency and understanding of data ingestion pipelines and solutions
β’ Monitoring and Observability
β’ Understand, monitor, and enhance data ingestion flows to enable reporting and insights development, including tracking data and job statuses
β’ Team Leadership
β’ Mentor and guide other team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development
β’ Advise on best practices around data ingestion pipelines and procurement of data based on use-cases (structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data)
β’ Team Culture
β’ Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Qualifications
β’ Bachelor or Graduate degree in Business Management, Information Management, Computer Science, or other STEM degree program
β’ 5+ years in relevant data engineering positions
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Strong understanding of modern, cloud-based data architecture concepts and best practices, including Lakehouse architectures
β’ Hands-on experience using version control systems such as Git and CI/CD workflows and practices
β’ Comfortable with ambiguity; able to take ownership, thrive with less oversight and process
β’ Experience in ELT/ETL tools, including AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, and Apache Airflow
β’ Experience leading other team members and developing technical standards
β’ Attention to detail and commitment to data and code quality
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to multi-task
β’ Experience with data observability and monitoring tools, such as Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, Monte Carlo, and AWS CloudWatch
The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $155,000 or the hourly equivalent.
