Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Data Engineer to join our growing data platform team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building scalable data pipelines, supporting modern cloud-based data warehouse environments, and driving data reliability initiatives across the organization.
This role requires a proactive engineer who can take ownership of data operations, troubleshoot complex pipeline issues, and continuously improve platform performance, monitoring, and scalability.
Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Development & Maintenance
β’ Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using modern data engineering tools and cloud technologies
β’ Build and optimize data models and warehouse structures in Snowflake to support analytics and reporting needs
β’ Develop reliable and maintainable data workflows for ingesting, transforming, and delivering data from multiple source systems
β’ Ensure high performance, scalability, and availability of data pipelines
Platform Reliability & Monitoring
β’ Implement data quality checks, monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms across pipelines and workflows
β’ Improve observability and proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and operational gaps
β’ Enhance system resilience, failure handling, and recovery processes to minimize downtime
Incident Response & Troubleshooting
β’ Serve as a primary responder for data platform and pipeline-related incidents
β’ Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on data discrepancies, failures, and performance issues
β’ Implement durable solutions and preventative measures to reduce recurring operational issues
System & Infrastructure Improvements
β’ Identify opportunities to improve data architecture, orchestration processes, and workflow automation
β’ Contribute to enhancements of the Snowflake-based data platform
β’ Standardize data engineering best practices and optimize operational efficiency
Required Skills & Qualifications
β’ 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related field
β’ Strong experience with Snowflake and modern cloud data warehouse technologies
β’ Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Airflow, dbt, Fivetran, integrate.io, or similar
β’ Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large-scale relational databases
β’ Experience supporting BI/reporting platforms such as Sigma Computing or similar tools
β’ Experience working with ERP system data, preferably NetSuite or similar platforms
β’ Strong understanding of data quality frameworks, monitoring, and alerting systems
β’ Proven ability to troubleshoot complex pipeline issues and perform root cause analysis
β’ Experience with workflow automation and pipeline orchestration
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience in retail or operational business environments
β’ Knowledge of scalable data architecture and cloud data platforms
β’ Familiarity with DevOps/DataOps practices
