Senior Data Engineer (Contract) Location: Edinburgh, UK and/or London, UK Onsite: 3 days per week (mandatory) Start: ASAP Duration: 12–24 months (high likelihood of extension) About the Role We’re hiring a Senior Data Engineer for a long-term engagement with a large, global technology organization operating at scale in AI-driven and data-intensive environments. You’ll work on building high-performance data pipelines, supporting advanced analytics and ML-driven initiatives, and ensuring robust, scalable data infrastructure across multiple domains. What You’ll Do • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines for large, complex datasets • Process and integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple sources • Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance end-to-end • Collaborate closely with AI / ML teams to deliver production-ready datasets • Support data governance, lineage, and documentation in a pragmatic, impact-focused way What You Bring • Senior level Data Engineering experience • Excellent Python and SQL skills • Experience in big data environments (e.g., Spark, distributed systems, cloud data platforms) • Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT, and pipeline architecture • Willingness to work onsite in Edinburgh or London 3 days/week Nice to Have • Exposure to ML / AI data workflows • Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow or similar) • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Please include: • Availability start date • Hourly rate • A brief 2–3 line summary on why your background is a strong match for this project
