Role description
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a high-impact data initiative, driving the implementation of data management solutions and enterprise-scale data platforms. This is a highly client-facing role, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while delivering end-to-end solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Databricks and Unity Catalog, along with strong experience in building and optimizing modern data pipelines.
• Rate Range- $70-86/hr on W2
Responsibilities:
• Lead the implementation of data management MVPs across the enterprise
• Design, build, and optimize data engineering pipelines
• Work extensively with Databricks and Unity Catalog for data governance and management
• Optimize performance across Databricks and Kafka-based data pipelines
• Collaborate directly with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions
• Drive initiatives related to data governance, metadata, data quality, and access management (UAM)
• Support development and visualization efforts using tools like Power BI (as needed)
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of data platforms
Required Qualifications:
Core Technical Skills
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks
• Experience with Unity Catalog for data governance
• Advanced experience building data pipelines and data engineering solutions
• Experience with DBT (Data Build Tool)
• Strong knowledge of Kafka and data pipeline performance optimization
Data Management & Governance
• Experience or strong interest in data governance and data management
• Exposure to metadata management, data quality rules, and access management (UAM)
• Familiarity with GenAI-driven data use cases is a plus
Additional Skills
• Experience with Power BI (preferred)
• Strong understanding of scalable data architectures
Industry Experience
• Experience in the Oil & Gas industry is preferred
Soft Skills
• Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive mindset with strong ownership and execution capabilities
Work Requirements
• Ideally based in Houston, TX and available onsite 4–5 days per week
• Open to candidates willing to travel onsite twice per month
