Find out more about us. Job description The role and responsibilities This is an exciting and varied role that sits within the Data Science team. You will combine your advanced analytical capability with software skills to drive and develop business operations and help drive TPR’s data strategy. The successful candidate will contribute to implementing data science at TPR, raising standards and continuously seek opportunities to innovate and improve how the business adopts data products, in line with developments in data science and machine learning. You will need to be confident working closely with senior technical and non-technical leaders and be able to act as a visible leader for the Data Science Team with an emphasis on collaboration and inclusivity, role modelling the teams’ values and sharing knowledge and skills to build wider team capability. This role will have a particular focus on supporting the build of the Pensions Dashboard – a priority cross-Government programme of work to ensure that pension schemes connect to the Pensions Dashboard on time to support millions of savers in planning for retirement. This will require good working knowledge of R and Power BI. As an in-house consultancy, the Data Science Team work right across TPR, and you will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills on a variety of workstreams and engage with senior leaders to help make informed decisions that affect the Pensions Marketplace. Person specification The role criteria The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of: providing effective consultancy support by designing and delivering data-development projects, building and embedding new approaches across the business delivering advanced analytical products to internal and external stakeholders. Developing and delivering Machine Learning (ML); Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Programming (NLP) products – either directly or supervising Junior / Apprentice / Intern Data Scientists. Building sustainable products in Bower BI and R, and the use of git for version control. Communicating findings with key stakeholders throughout the business and in external fora. Developing Junior, Apprentice and Intern Data Scientists through specifying and overseeing discrete work packages, aligned with the current stage in their development plan. We’re using digital, data, and technology to revolutionise pension regulation, making it more efficient, secure, transparent, and customer centred. Our data team has accountability for the data estate and is responsible for the organisation’s approach to data. We're data-enabled, not data-driven: we work with engineers, product managers, and other disciplines to understand how data can best support the needs of the organisation and ultimately savers. You will be joining a Data Science team that sits at the heart of delivering for The Pensions Regulator. We work on a variety of workstreams, and the team work with R, python, SQL, PBI and develop on a bespoke we have an enterprise-scale Azure data platform that allows us access to secure Machine Learning models.
