Role description
Position Summary
A large-scale knowledge and analytics business is searching for a Senior Data Scientist to join a hybrid team in Nashua, New Hampshire. The successful candidate will help turn emerging AI research into trusted capabilities for legal and regulatory research platforms.
This assignment emphasizes scientific development of enterprise AI experiences built around language models, retrieval systems, and intelligent agents. You will explore how data preparation, retrieval design, prompting, evaluation, and workflow logic can be combined to produce accurate and useful results from extensive professional content libraries.
Essential Experience
8 or more years working in data science, statistical machine learning, NLP, or applied artificial intelligence
Expertise in developing solutions with large language models and natural language data
Experience implementing retrieval-augmented generation and vector-based information access
Background designing autonomous or semi-autonomous AI task flows
Knowledge of architecture patterns used for distributed, enterprise-grade AI systems
Strong ability to formulate hypotheses, run experiments, interpret results, and recommend product decisions
Helpful Background
Knowledge of legal research, regulatory analysis, publishing, or another content-centric field
Bachelorβs degree required in a related field; graduate education is preferred
Experience working with cross-functional teams to productionize advanced analytical methods
What You Will Own
Key Deliverables
Frame ambiguous product challenges as measurable data science problems
Build retrieval experiments that improve how models locate and use relevant source documents
Develop NLP and LLM methods for extracting, condensing, and organizing complex information
Design evaluation datasets and scoring approaches for generative and agent-based systems
Guide implementation partners by documenting findings, limitations, and recommended operating thresholds
Assignment Structure
6-month contract with an opportunity for permanent conversion
