Role description
One of the country's largest financial technology companies is searching for a Senior Data Scientist to join their Referral Program team 100% remotely (PST hours preferred). In this role, you will partner directly with business stakeholders to define and measure key funnel metrics while identifying and executing opportunities to improve end-to-end product performance. You'll play a critical role in both in-season execution and out-of-season capability building, working at the intersection of data, product, and marketing to drive meaningful, measurable impact. This role begins supporting one product platform with potential expansion into supporting an additional consumer financial product as well.
This exciting opportunity begins as a 12-month W2 contract offering a 100% remote schedule (PST hours), competitive benefits outlined below, and the strong potential to extend or convert to permanent employment.
Responsibilities
• Own and maintain existing reporting dashboards, identifying opportunities to modernize and transition pipeline ownership toward data engineering
• Automate in-season KPI reporting and opportunity identification for the Referrals program to reduce recurring weekly lift
• Partner with a cross-functional team including Marketers, Product Managers, Product Designers, and others to design and execute A/B tests, including instrumentation, test design, reporting, significance testing, and ad hoc analysis
• Conduct ad hoc directional and causal analyses to unblock decisions and support a clear path forward
• Build new Referral reporting capabilities to support newly launched initiatives, including establishing E2E and product-facing metrics, data pipelines, and dashboards using SQL and tools such as Databricks and Superglue
• Define key funnel metrics and identify more stable backend metrics to replace front-end clickstream signals, while optimizing pipeline performance and improving business-facing reporting
• Analyze how customers flow through the referrals program and contribute to initiatives around incentive design and product flow improvements aimed at reducing conversion friction
• Develop self-serve A/B testing capabilities for the Referrals program to drive consistency across relevant funnel and product scope areas, enabling faster in-season testing
• Collaborate with a strong stakeholder partner on learning plan development and product development needs prior to go-live
• Contribute to the team's growing AI adoption efforts, including building capabilities leveraging tools like Claude to drive cross-sell opportunities and plug-in deliveries
Skills & Experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or Business Analytics
• 7 to 10 years of total experience with a strong foundation in product analytics
• Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to build and maintain data pipelines (Databricks experience is a plus)
• Hands-on experience building and managing dashboards using tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik, or similar
• Experience working closely with product teams and a solid understanding of product analytics methodologies
• Background in A/B testing, experimentation design, and causal inference
• Familiarity with regression modeling or other data science techniques is a plus!
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate data insights into clear, actionable recommendations
• Exceptional cross-functional communication skills, with a track record of managing stakeholder relationships and driving projects to completion
• Highly detail-oriented with a naturally curious mindset and openness to evolving how work gets done
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and exploring new ways to transition support models and advance data craft skills
You will receive the following benefits:
• Medical Insurance - Four medical plans to choose from for you and your family
• Dental & Orthodontia Benefits
• Vision Benefits
• Health Savings Account (HSA)
• Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts
