Role description
Must Haves:
β’ Advanced Python expertise (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, statsmodels)
β’ Strong background in time-series forecasting (ARIMA, SARIMAX, gradient boosting models)
β’ Proven experience taking models from development to production
β’ Experience integrating weather APIs and external data sources
β’ Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, SageMaker)
β’ Strong SQL skills and experience querying large datasets
β’ Experience building production monitoring, versioning, and retraining pipelines
β’ Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Pluses:
β’ Energy markets, load forecasting, or renewable generation domain experience
β’ Probabilistic forecasting and uncertainty quantification
β’ Advanced feature engineering with weather and domain-specific signals
β’ Experience with Streamlit, Plotly, or similar dashboarding tools
β’ Agile/Scrum experience (Jira, Confluence)
β’ Infrastructure-as-Code experience

Insight Global is seeking a Principal Data Scientist β Load & Renewable Generation Forecasting for a top energy and utilities client. This individual will lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced forecasting models supporting load, solar, and wind generation across mission-critical operations. The role blends deep data science expertise with real-world operational impactβworking closely with trading, system operations, and engineering teams to deliver highly accurate, production-ready forecasting solutions. The ideal candidate thrives in complex environments, takes full ownership of the model lifecycle, and is passionate about building scalable systems that directly influence real-time energy decisions.
β’ Lead end-to-end development of load, solar, and wind forecasting models
β’ Design, deploy, and maintain production-grade forecasting systems
β’ Build automated retraining, evaluation, and performance monitoring frameworks
β’ Integrate weather and operational data via APIs and internal data warehouses
β’ Develop scalable pipelines for real-time and batch forecasting
β’ Partner closely with trading, system operations, and engineering teams
β’ Create interactive dashboards to communicate forecasts and insights
β’ Ensure forecasting solutions meet strict accuracy and operational deadlines
