Role description
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Database Cloud Engineer to join our IT team. This role combines deep database expertise with modern cloud-enabled application development practices, with a primary focus on database performance, optimization, and migration. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing, tuning, and migrating database queries across Oracle, SQL Server, and MongoDB, enabling high-performance, cloud-ready applications and enterprise platforms. This includes supporting integrations with systems such as NetSuite. You will play a critical role in ensuring scalable data architecture, efficient data synchronization, and optimized reporting pipelines across key business systems. In addition, this role includes secondary responsibilities in application development using TypeScript and C#, particularly in areas where efficient data access is essential. Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, ERP integrations, and AI-assisted development is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities • Own database performance optimization initiatives, including analysis, tuning, and migration of SQL and NoSQL queries across Oracle, SQL Server, and MongoDB • Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks impacting scalability and application reliability • Design indexing strategies, query execution plans, and data models to ensure high performance and long-term maintainability • Support database modernization programs, including cloud migrations and legacy system optimization • Contribute to backend services and APIs where optimized data access is critical • Collaborate with developers, architects, and IT stakeholders to define best practices for data access and performance standards • Support and optimize data-intensive workloads in Microsoft Azure, including containerized and cloud-native environments • Design and maintain ETL/data migration pipelines ensuring accuracy, performance, and reliability • Validate data integrity and consistency during migrations and system changes • Provide technical leadership and drive standards for database performance, cloud data services, and data architecture across the organization Qualifications • Proven experience optimizing and tuning SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB) in production environments • Strong knowledge of indexing strategies, execution plans, schema design, and query optimization techniques • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure • Experience contributing to application development using TypeScript and/or C#, especially for performance-sensitive data operations • Experience designing, supporting, or migrating ETL and data integration workflows across relational and NoSQL systems • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with ability to resolve complex performance issues • Ability to collaborate effectively across development, architecture, and infrastructure teams • Experience with containerized environments and modern deployment practices is preferred • Exposure to cloud migration projects, distributed systems, or AI-assisted development is a plus
