Job Title: Senior DataStage Engineer / Platform Administrator
Location: Detroit, MI
About the Role:
Weβre seeking an experienced Senior DataStage Engineer with strong platform administration expertise to design, build, and maintain enterprise data integration solutions. This role combines hands-on ETL development with platform-level management, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance of IBM DataStage environments. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical data systems.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Design, develop, and optimize ETL workflows using IBM DataStage for complex data integration and transformation needs.
β’ Administer and maintain the DataStage platform, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.
β’ Monitor system performance, manage user access, and ensure platform stability and security.
β’ Collaborate with data architects, DBAs, and DevOps teams to optimize data pipelines and infrastructure.
β’ Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
β’ Troubleshoot and resolve platform or ETL-related issues in development and production environments.
β’ Support continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) processes for DataStage jobs.
β’ Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for processes, configurations, and best practices.
Qualifications:
β’ 7+ years of experience in ETL development, with at least 4+ years using IBM DataStage.
β’ Strong experience in DataStage platform administration on Linux/Unix environments.
β’ Proficiency in SQL, database design, and working with RDBMS platforms (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, etc.).
β’ Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting of DataStage jobs and infrastructure.
β’ Familiarity with scheduling tools (Control-M, Autosys) and version control systems (Git, Bitbucket).
β’ Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and scripting (Python, Shell, or Ansible).
β’ Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Experience with IBM Information Server suite (QualityStage, Metadata Workbench).
β’ Exposure to cloud-based DataStage (DataStage on AWS, Azure, or IBM Cloud).
β’ Experience integrating DataStage with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
β’ IBM Certified DataStage Professional or Administrator certification.
