The Senior DevSecOps Engineer is a highly skilled hands-on engineer responsible for advancing enterprise DevOps capabilities within our company through secure, scalable, and efficient CI/CD pipelines and automation solutions. This role blends deep technical execution (approximately 75% hands-on development) with cross-functional collaboration to improve deployment reliability and development velocity in a large enterprise setting.
The engineer will design and implement reusable workflows, deployment pipelines, and automation tools for diverse technology stacks (Tomcat-ECS, EKS Spring Boot, CDK, Monorepo), ensuring consistency and reliability across environments (Dev, QA, Prod). Responsibilities include optimizing developer workflows, troubleshooting complex deployment issues, mentoring developers, and peers on best practices, and improving efficiency through tool consolidation and automation. The role also involves maintaining well-structured documentation and dashboards to enhance developer productivity, system security, and operational excellence across IT.
Job Detailed Description
β’ Hands-On Senior DevSecOps Engineer responsible for implementing DevOps practices as an enterprise shared services within ensuring secure, efficient, and scalable CI/CD pipelines and solutions for application deployment.
β’ This will be hands-on role with strong coding background in Python and GitHub Actions (approximately 75% hands-on engineering and 25% design, collaboration, and documentation activities).
β’ Own the end-to-end low-level design, development, and implementation of CI/CD pipelines and automation solutions, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability of applications and systems from a DevOps perspective.
β’ Collaborate closely and effectively with multiple organizations, developers, security engineers, and cloud engineering teams across our IT to ensure high-quality delivery.
β’ Influence and partner with development teams across our IT to understand their needs and implement scalable DevOps best practices that align with enterprise standards.
β’ Develop CI/CD pipelines & reusable workflows to improve development workflows, deployment efficiency, and overall system reliability.
β’ Develop workflows for various code/technology types such as Tomcat-ECS, EKS Spring Boot, CDK, Monorepo.
β’ Develop automation scripts and tools to identify patterns, improve efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance scalability across multiple environments (Dev, QA, Prod).
β’ Work closely with application developers to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and deployment issues.
β’ As a senior engineer, assist and mentor other DevOps engineers in solving complex problems and adopting best practices.
β’ Evangelize and guide the IT development community within our DevOps best practices, tools, and emerging technologies.
β’ Maintain detailed design documentation of DevOps processes, configurations, and best practices.
β’ Perform technical evaluations of DevOps tools, consolidate redundant solutions, optimize technology usage, and cost, and develop dashboards to track key developer productivity and system performance KPIs.
Qualification
β’ Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) authorized to work in the United States.
β’ 7+ years of progressive experience in DevOps and CI/CD for application services β required.
β’ 5+ years of hands-on coding experience in Python β required.
β’ 5+ years of experience developing reusable CI/CD workflows and DevOps pipelines using GitHub Actions β required.
β’ Hands-on administration and integration experience with GitHub, SonarCloud, and Snyk β required.
β’ Hands-on administrative experience with additional DevOps tools such as JFrog Artifactory, LaunchDarkly, and Xray.
β’ Experience with DevOps KPI and productivity tools such as Harness, Backstage, Code Climate Velocity, LinearB, or Jellyfish.
β’ Hands-on experience with Flyway and integrating DevOps practices into data pipeline automation.
β’ Strong programming and API development experience in Python, Shell scripting, Java, Go, Node.js, and SQL β required.
β’ Proven experience in designing and implementing CI/CD best practices and automated deployment methodologies.
β’ Experience developing and tracking DevOps metrics, including DORA software delivery metrics.
β’ Proven experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and with micro-services or mini-services architectures.
β’ Proven experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their orchestration.
β’ Experience mentoring or leading technical teams, and the ability to influence and align cross-functional development teams.
β’ Strong background in DevOps best practices, automation, and configuration management.
β’ Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
β’ Experience assisting and mentoring junior engineers in resolving complex technical problems.
β’ Ability to make sound technical decisions quickly and deliver complex solutions on time.
β’ Relevant certifications preferred, such as GitHub Certified Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
Time Requirements
β’ Primary work hours align with U.S. Eastern Time (EST), through at least 5 PM EST.
β’ Flexibility to collaborate across multiple time zones, including European and IST regions.
