About the Role
As As businesses continue to adopt AI agents at scale, every connection those agents make to APIs, cloud platforms, collaboration tools, enterprise systems, and data environments creates a machine identity that must be governed. These credentials grow quickly, operate autonomously, and often fall outside traditional identity governance models designed for human users.
We are hiring a Senior Engineer to lead this space end to end. This is a newly created, high visibility role that sits at the intersection of Identity, Cloud, Enterprise Applications, and Cybersecurity. You will own the rollout and operationalization of a non human identity governance platform, helping build the workflows, visibility, and operational guardrails needed to support AI adoption securely and at scale.
This is not a policy focused role. It is an engineering and operational ownership opportunity with meaningful cross functional influence and direct impact on how Hearst secures its AI enabled future.
What You’ll Do
NHI Governance Platform Rollout & Operationalization
Lead the deployment and operationalization of a non human identity governance platform across enterprise environments.
Integrate the platform with cloud infrastructure, identity providers, SaaS applications, and internal systems.
Partner with Identity Management teams to establish processes for discovery, classification, ownership assignment, and lifecycle management of machine identities.
Build dashboards, reporting, and alerting to provide visibility into machine identity posture and governance health.
Machine Identity Governance
Create intake, assessment, and approval workflows for machine identities, service accounts, API keys, OAuth tokens, and agent credentials.
Support lifecycle management including provisioning, credential rotation, access reviews, and decommissioning.
Identify orphaned, unmanaged, or high risk credentials and partner with engineering and cloud teams to remediate.
Cross Functional Partnership
Act as a key connector across Identity, Cloud Operations, Enterprise Applications, Cybersecurity, and AI teams.
Translate security requirements into automated, operational controls.
Partner with business stakeholders to support secure AI adoption without slowing innovation.
Represent the organization in discussions related to AI governance and machine identity strategy.
Program Development
Build and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.
Define metrics that measure governance maturity, operational health, and risk reduction.
Stay informed on emerging trends in machine identity, secrets management, and AI related security threats.
What You Bring
5+ years of experience in infrastructure, identity, cloud, or security engineering.
Proven ownership of cross functional technical initiatives.
Hands on experience with secrets management platforms such as HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault, or similar tools.
Strong understanding of cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Familiarity with OAuth, OIDC, SAML, API keys, and machine to machine authentication patterns.
Experience implementing or integrating security and identity tooling across enterprise environments.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
Comfortable operating in a highly collaborative, evolving environment.
Nice to Have
Experience with non human identity governance or secrets security platforms such as Entro Security, Astrix, Elimity, or similar.
Exposure to AI agent frameworks and authentication patterns for autonomous systems.
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or cloud security certifications.
Background in media, publishing, or other data sensitive industries.
