Role description
Job Summary:
Our client, a leading travel & hospitality provider, is looking for a Senior Engineer, Aircraft Security to join their Cybersecurity organization, contract (renewable), onsite 3 days/week in Fort Worth Texas. This role backfills a departing senior engineer and owns detection engineering, remediation lifecycle, and PKI engineering for aircraft/connected-system security. The team operates with high autonomy and minimal day-to-day direction, so the right candidate is a self-directed senior engineer who scopes and drives their own work rather than someone who works off an assigned queue or ticket rotation. This is explicitly not a SOC/alert-queue role.
Core Responsibilities:
β’ Engineer and continuously improve detection content and analytics in Microsoft Sentinel/SIEM across aircraft and connected-system telemetry
β’ Author KQL queries and detection rules, build dashboards, and independently investigate security events end-to-end with strong written documentation
β’ Own remediation plans from finding to validated closure, including vulnerability/finding tracking
β’ Provide PKI engineering depth for aircraft-security certificate use cases, including enrollment protocols (SCEP/EST), trusted-role operations, and certificate lifecycle management for certificate-based authentication and software signing/validation
β’ Engineer and operate the Absolute endpoint/device platform (SSO, policy groups, API integrations)
β’ Apply AI/agentic tooling (e.g., Claude) to accelerate detection, investigation, and remediation work
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves):
β’ 5+ years in security engineering with demonstrated independent project ownership (not queue-based SOC analyst experience)
β’ Hands-on PKI engineering depth: SCEP/EST, Certificate Policy/Certification Practice Statement (CP/CPS), trusted roles, Levels of Assurance, NIST SP 800-63, certificate-based authentication and software signing/validation (not just certificate consumption/usage)
β’ Self-directed detection engineering in Microsoft Sentinel, including KQL/query and rule authoring and dashboard build
β’ Remediation lifecycle ownership β tracking findings from discovery to validated closure
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves):
β’ Hands-on AI/agentic security tooling experience (Claude/LLM-assisted code and configuration analysis, prompt engineering for security use cases)
β’ Absolute endpoint platform engineering (SSO, policy groups, API)
β’ Scripting/automation in Python or PowerShell
β’ Aviation, OT, cyber-physical, or embedded-systems exposure
β’ HSM/key-management and code-signing infrastructure experience
Key Competencies and Behaviors:
β’ Entrepreneurial, self-starting mindset β comfortable with ambiguity and given a goal rather than a task list
β’ Connects detection, remediation, and PKI into one coherent security outcome without needing task-to-task management
β’ Strong written documentation habits for independent investigations
β’ Comfortable operating in a small, high-trust, low-bureaucracy team covering safety-sensitive systems
β’ Not a fit for candidates seeking a steady assigned ticket queue or close daily direction
Work Environment:
β’ Location: Onsite 3 days/week - Fort Worth, Texas
Compensation & Benefits
β’ Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $62/hr and $68/hr. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
β’ Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance Plans
β’ Employee-Owned Profit Sharing (ESOP)
β’ 401K offered
