Job Summary
The Senior Enterprise Data Architect will lead CenterPoint's enterprise-wide data architecture, defining the strategy, framework, and governance needed to support business goals. This includes working closely with stakeholders, data product teams, and IT to align data architecture with business value. The role focuses on scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions, leveraging emerging technologies and industry trends to improve the data ecosystem and enable data-driven decisions.
The architect will provide leadership, define standards, and support solution architects and data teams through best practices and proof-of-concept initiatives that influence enterprise data strategy.
Essential Functions
Define and maintain data architecture strategy, models, governance standards, and lifecycle management.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and align architecture with business value.
Develop and maintain enterprise-wide data models (conceptual, logical, physical).
Enforce data governance (quality, security, compliance, metadata).
Lead architectural reviews and ensure adherence to standards.
Identify opportunities to improve the data landscape (e.g., reduce redundancy, improve access).
Promote reuse of data assets and patterns.
Evaluate emerging tech (e.g., AI, real-time data, cloud-native platforms) via proof-of-concepts.
Manage tools like data catalogs and metadata platforms.
Act as a liaison among product teams, architects, and business units.
Lead the Data Architecture Community of Practice.
Consult on data standards and tech to support enterprise initiatives.
Document and communicate architecture standards.
Translate strategic data themes to stakeholders.
Oversee the data platform portfolio, including upgrades and training.
Ensure data availability and integrity during emergencies (EOP).
Education
Required: Bachelorβs in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
Preferred: Masterβs degree.
Must Have Qualifications
12+ years in IT, with at least 7 in data architecture or enterprise data management.
TOGAF certification required.
Deep knowledge of data architecture, governance, integration, and modeling best practices.
Proven collaboration across business, engineering, and infrastructure teams.
Experience with tools like Collibra, Informatica, Alation, etc.
Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Hands-on with modeling tools (ERwin, PowerDesigner).
Familiarity with change, release, and data lifecycle management.
Strong analytical skills.
Preferred: Experience in electric/gas utilities or regulated industries.
Physical Requirements
Effective verbal and written communication.
Manual dexterity for computer and office equipment.
Working Conditions
Participation in Emergency Operation Plan (EOP) required.
Must be able to work regular hours, occasional/multiple overtime, or rotating shifts.
Fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Preferred Skills
Certification in data architecture frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
Experience with big data or real-time processing tools (e.g., Kafka, Spark).
Knowledge of AI/ML data architectures.
