Role description
Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer 6-month initial contract £550-600 Outside IR35 North West - Hybrid (1 day per week onsite) The Organisation We're working with a major UK infrastructure organisation undergoing a multi-year data transformation programme, who are seeking a Senior Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer to support the build-out of its modern lakehouse platform. This is a key role within an established data engineering team, working on a large-scale modernisation initiative. The Role You will take ownership of a defined business workstream (e.g., Finance, Operations, HR), delivering end-to-end data engineering solutions within Microsoft Fabric. This role requires both deep technical capability and strong stakeholder engagement skills. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement Fabric-based data ingestion pipelines across multiple data sources • Build and optimise metadata-driven pipelines • Develop and operationalise Medallion Architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold layers) • Manage data transformation and movement across layers • Ensure data governance, lineage, and access controls are well understood and applied • Work directly with business stakeholders to shape and deliver solutions • Own a full domain from ingestion through to curated data layer Required Experience • Strong Microsoft Fabric data engineering experience • Hands-on delivery of metadata-driven pipelines • Proven Medallion Architecture implementation experience • Deep understanding of data modelling and lakehouse design • Solid grasp of governance, lineage and access principles • Experience owning end-to-end workstreams • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Desirable • Experience in large-scale data modernisation programmes • Experience working in infrastructure, utilities, or large enterprise environments If you're interested, please message me directly or send an email to: sam.branney@venturi-group.com ( Microsoft / Fabric / Data / Engineer / Developer / Medallion / MS / Metadata / Lakehouse )
