Role description
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Sr. Financial Reporting Analyst to modernize and automate our monthly financial reporting processes. The current workflow relies heavily on manual manipulation of large Excel datasets exported from various financial and student management systems. The ideal candidate will transition these legacy reporting methods into a scalable, automated environment—ideally leveraging Power BI—to deliver accurate, timely insights at both the Division and Business Unit levels.
Key Responsibilities
Process Automation
• Design and implement automated workflows to replace manual data entry and data‑cleanup tasks.
• Ensure automation is robust enough to dynamically handle new data columns or structural changes in source files without breaking downstream formulas.
Report Architecture
• Break down a complex “one‑size‑fits‑all” master report into tailored dashboards for different stakeholder groups.
• Create clear, intuitive deliverables for Division-level executives and Business Unit leaders.
Data Integration
• Build reliable data pipelines connecting financial, A/R, and student registration systems.
• Standardize data mapping, definitions, and hierarchies across multiple platforms.
Quality Assurance
• Implement automated validations and reconciliation checks to ensure data accuracy from raw export through final reporting.
• Validate revenue, expenses, transfers, and adjustments during each reporting cycle.
Grant & Contract Accounting
• Apply knowledge of grant and contract‑based accounting to ensure financial reporting aligns with institutional, regulatory, and audit requirements.
Candidate Requirements
Must‑Haves
• Automation Expertise: Proven ability to automate complex Excel workflows using tools such as Power Query, VBA, or Python to create an end‑to‑end automated reporting process with minimal manual effort.
• Advanced Data Modeling: Experience managing large datasets with dynamic structures, including handling added or changing columns.
• ERP Experience: Familiarity with PeopleSoft or similar ERP systems.
Preferred Qualifications
• Financial Knowledge: Strong background in Grant Accounting and/or Contract Accounting, including services‑rendered billing models.
• Power BI Expertise: Experience building Power BI models and dashboards, particularly migrating complex Excel-based reporting into BI environments.
• Data Visualization: Ability to translate messy, complex financial data into intuitive visuals and executive-friendly dashboards.
