Role description
Senior Data Engineer - Healthcare Contract-to-Hire (CTH) or 12-Month Contract Minneapolis, MN Must complete a coding assessment and pass Must Have: Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex datasets Python and/or PySpark Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow preferred) Git for version control Databricks Strong curiosity and willingness to explore data in depth Airflow orchestration experience Healthcare data experience Exposure to Power BI or similar reporting tools Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (Master’s degree may substitute for some experience). 4+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience. 4+ years working with Python and/or R for data manipulation. 4+ years of SQL experience (PL/SQL, PySpark SQL, or similar). Experience with CI/CD workflows and Git-based version control. Solid understanding of data modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas, 3NF, denormalized models). Familiarity with common data formats such as Parquet, Delta, Avro, JSON, and CSV. Understanding of batch and real-time data processing patterns, partitioning, and distributed computing. Strong data profiling and analytical skills β€” ability to uncover patterns, troubleshoot data issues, and solve complex problems. Self-driven, curious, creative, and proactive mindset. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical partners. Ability to contribute effectively within cross-functional development or operations teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Oracle ERP or finance-related datasets Understanding of healthcare operations or claims data Basic knowledge of accounting principles Exposure to Agile/Scrum delivery practices Experience working in hybrid cloud environments (on-prem + cloud) Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server) Experience in tuning SQL/Oracle queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization Python libraries for analytics (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib) and Jupyter notebooks Familiarity with CI/CD automation, continuous testing, or SRE practices Experience with Microsoft Azure data ecosystem: Azure Data Factory Synapse Databricks / Spark Purview Power BI / PowerApps Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred) Experience building Power BI data models using Power Query and DAX Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: $145,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year Work Location: In person
