Role description
The Senior Interface Engineer manages activities for medium to large, moderate to high risk, technology-based projects from initiation to delivery. Works with clients, other technical staff, and vendors to develop technology architectures, requirements, project scope, solution alternatives, project plans, project deliverables, testing methodologies and costs for new system implementations. Understands interface definitions, advanced interface design, advanced interface mappings, and interface standards and procedures. Provides the necessary recommendations as required to maintain the standards established by the organization. Provides assistance in developing business requirements, scope statements and in defining project deliverables. Utilizes and applies advanced system design skills, technical standards, and available technical tools and software for system implementations and/or system process improvements, e.g. client/server software installation, interface development, etc. Whether in collaboration with other team members or autonomously, is responsible for the development, tracking, and execution of testing methodologies and procedures for systems implementation and enhancements projects. Ensures that milestones are achieved on time, on budget, and in scope by identifying, mitigating, resolving or escalating issues with sufficient time for course correction. Defines and implements the technology solutions for specific infrastructure or interface related projects and ensures that it is designed and constructed to meet current and anticipated business and technology requirements. Makes recommendations to improve or supplement IT system architecture. Designs and develops detailed technical diagrams that document physical and logical dataflow, protocols, networking interfaces and components, physical connections, DNS and domain considerations, database components, systems integration, user interfaces, storage and SAN (storage area network) connectivity, application deployment methodologies, security considerations, geographical location, high availability, load balancing and fault tolerance.
β’ 5 + years of Cerner FSI experience. COREPOINT and OPENLink experience is a plus
β’ Create and execute solutions for integrating financial and clinical data across multiple systems.
β’ Expert with HL7 messages formats (e.g., ADT, ORM, ORU, DFT, RDE, MDM, SIU, etc.).
β’ Ability to understand data structures and technical specifications detailing data elements and HL7 message structures.
β’ Must have basic networking knowledge of networking and different connectivity solutions (VPN, SFTP, TCP/IP, HTTP, etc.).
β’ Ability to respond to ad hoc user interface questions
β’ Provide proactive support by monitoring live connections.
β’ Responsible for creating/maintaining overall interface environment documentation.
β’ Must possess strong analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills in order to resolve complex HL7 interface issues as they arise.
β’ Must be able to prioritize tasks based on severity of user impact.
β’ Must be able to resolve major incidents within the established time limits.
β’ Experience working in a healthcare HIPAA compliant environment.
β’ Must be able to work independently and in team environments.
β’ Demonstrated willingness and ability to receive and share knowledge with peers.
β’ Demonstrates thorough knowledge of computer systems, software, decision support systems, monitoring, report writing tools and electronic communication
