Role description
Title: Senior Engineer - Machine Learning Location: Fort Worth, TX Job Description: What You'll Do: • Collaborate with business leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, technical leads, engineers, and internal customers to understand requirements and develop AI solutions aligned with business needs. • Maintain and enhance existing enterprise services, applications, and platforms using Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices. • Troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues and implement effective solutions. • Create detailed project specifications, technical requirements, and effort estimates. • Research and implement emerging AI technologies to improve processes, security, and system performance. • Work closely with data scientists and product teams to build and deploy machine learning models, focusing on production-level model deployment. • Develop and optimize Python-based ML pipelines for data preprocessing, model training, validation, and deployment. • Monitor model performance and implement strategies for bias mitigation and model explainability. • Ensure AI/ML models are scalable, efficient, and reliable in production environments. • Write and maintain code for model training and deployment while collaborating with software engineers to integrate models into applications. • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and impactful AI-driven solutions. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training. • 7–9+ years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale machine learning applications in hosted production environments. • 2+ years of professional, design, and open-source software development experience. • Strong experience with Mixed-Integer Programming (MIP) modeling, including: • Translating real-world business rules into decision variables, linear constraints, and objectives. • Understanding of LP/IP theory and branch-and-bound concepts. • Hands-on experience with commercial optimization solvers: • FICO Xpress (strongly preferred) • Gurobi • CPLEX • OR-Tools • Hexaly • Experience with solver tuning, including: • Gaps • Threads • Seeds • Determinism • Reading solver logs and .lp files • Strong programming skills to implement models and visualize solutions: • Java (optimization model development and solver abstraction) • Python (including Streamlit dashboards) • Ability to develop, test, and deploy changes across both Java and Python environments. • Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude or GitHub Copilot for accelerated development. • Strong coding standards with a collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Master’s or PhD in: • Operations Research • Industrial Engineering • Applied Mathematics • Computer Science (Optimization) • Related technical discipline • OR equivalent demonstrated MIP/optimization experience. • 3+ years of applied optimization experience preferred.
