Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Company Description BASWE helps software engineers with 3–6 years of experience transition into AI and Machine Learning engineering roles through their AiCareerPivot™ specialization system. This program enables professionals to achieve average compensation of $150k or more in under 6-12 months without quitting their current jobs or returning to university. We focus on practical, production-ready skills, while also ensuring our students have enough theoretical knowledge to excel as the industry changes. We are so confident in our process that if a student does not achieve role or compensation upgrades, they owe nothing and receive $10,000. Role Description We are looking for experienced Machine Learning Engineers to mentor and guide software engineers transitioning into AI/ML roles. You’ll be working with students who already have 3–6 years of software engineering experience and are actively building toward Applied Machine Learning Engineer roles or even Ai Engineering roles. Your role is to help bridge the gap between “learning” and “being job-ready.” This is a flexible, part-time opportunity designed for working ML engineers who want to share real-world insight without committing significant time. Time Commitment • Less than 10 hours per week • Typically 1–5 group sessions per week (sessions based on candidate's availability) • Optional async 1-1 support What You’ll Do • Host live group sessions (workshops, Q&A, deep dives) • Break down real-world ML concepts, systems, and tradeoffs • Help students understand what actually matters in ML roles • Provide guidance on projects, system design, and practical implementation • Run mock interviews or job prep sessions (optional) • Share real experiences from working in ML (what’s hype vs reality) Example Session Topics • Designing and deploying ML systems in production • Model training, evaluation, and iteration • Working with LLMs, RAG systems, and modern AI stacks • MLOps, monitoring, and scaling models • Common mistakes engineers make when transitioning into ML • What hiring managers actually look for in ML candidates Who This Is For • Machine Learning Engineers who enjoy explaining concepts and mentoring • Practitioners/Instructors who want to build their personal brand and credibility • Engineers who want to give back while staying focused on their full-time role Requirements • 3+ years of experience in Machine Learning, AI, or Applied ML roles • Experience building, training, or deploying ML systems in real-world environments • Strong understanding of practical ML workflows (not just theory) • Ability to communicate clearly to engineers transitioning into ML Nice to Have • Prior mentoring, teaching, or speaking experience • Experience interviewing or hiring ML engineers • Background at well-known tech companies or startups Compensation • Paid per session or on a recurring monthly basis ($500 - $5,000 monthly OTE) • Flexible depending on experience and involvement • Long-term opportunities available for consistent instructors
