Role description
Our client, the world’s largest home builder, is seeking an independent, motivated contract Senior Manager, Email Campaigns, to join their digital marketing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least five years of experience planning, building, and executing email marketing campaigns. Note: This position can be performed remotely within the United States. However, the candidate is expected to travel to Arlington, Texas, for one week every three weeks to work closely with the digital marketing team. About the Role The Senior Manager, Email Campaigns, will lead the strategy, execution, optimization, and growth of their email marketing programs. This role sits at the intersection of customer engagement, marketing automation, CRM, analytics, and AI-enabled marketing operations. As the owner of the email channel, you will be responsible for driving acquisition, engagement, retention, and revenue through highly targeted, data-driven email campaigns and automated customer journeys. You will oversee the complete email lifecycleβ€”from campaign planning and audience segmentation through deployment, testing, reporting, and optimization. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, possesses deep expertise in marketing automation and CRM platforms, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where measurable business impact is expected. Key Responsibilities Email Strategy & Lifecycle Marketing β€’ Lead the strategic planning and execution of all email marketing initiatives. β€’ Develop and manage lifecycle programs, including onboarding, nurture, engagement, retention, reactivation, and win-back campaigns. β€’ Create and maintain a centralized email marketing calendar and campaign roadmap. β€’ Design and optimize customer journeys, triggered campaigns, and automated workflows. β€’ Partner with marketing, sales, CRM, content, creative, and analytics teams to ensure alignment across all customer touchpoints. Campaign Development & Execution β€’ Build, launch, and manage email campaigns using marketing automation and CRM platforms. β€’ Develop audience segmentation strategies using demographic, behavioral, and engagement data. β€’ Ensure campaigns are personalized, relevant, and aligned with business objectives. β€’ Manage campaign setup, scheduling, QA testing, and deployment processes. β€’ Maintain documentation and operational standards to ensure consistency and scalability. Testing & Optimization β€’ Define and execute a comprehensive A/B and multivariate testing roadmap. β€’ Test subject lines, content, calls-to-action, send times, audience segments, and personalization strategies. β€’ Continuously analyze performance data to identify opportunities for improvement. β€’ Implement optimization initiatives that improve engagement, conversion, retention, and customer lifetime value. Marketing Operations & Database Management β€’ Own email operations, including deliverability, compliance, database health, and list management. β€’ Maintain subscriber data quality and segmentation integrity within CRM and marketing automation systems. β€’ Ensure compliance with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other applicable regulations. β€’ Establish and improve processes for campaign intake, approvals, QA, deployment, and reporting. Analytics & Reporting β€’ Define and monitor key performance indicators, including: β€’ Open Rate β€’ Click-Through Rate β€’ Conversion Rate β€’ Deliverability β€’ Unsubscribe Rate β€’ Revenue Attribution β€’ Customer Retention Metrics β€’ Develop dashboards and performance reports for marketing leadership and executive stakeholders. β€’ Translate campaign results into actionable recommendations and strategic insights. β€’ Present performance trends, optimization opportunities, and business impact to senior leadership. Qualifications Required Experience β€’ 5+ years of experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, CRM marketing, or marketing operations. β€’ Proven success managing end-to-end email marketing programs at scale. β€’ Strong experience developing customer journeys, nurture programs, and automated lifecycle campaigns. β€’ Demonstrated expertise in segmentation, personalization, testing methodologies, and performance optimization. β€’ Experience managing complex cross-functional projects involving marketing, sales, operations, and analytics teams. Technical Skills Hands-on experience with marketing automation platforms such as: β€’ ClickDimensions β€’ Microsoft Dynamics CRM β€’ Salesforce Marketing Cloud β€’ HubSpot β€’ Marketo β€’ Similar enterprise marketing platforms β€’ Strong understanding of: β€’ Email deliverability β€’ CRM integrations β€’ Marketing automation workflows β€’ Data management and segmentation β€’ Google Analytics and reporting platforms β€’ Dashboard and KPI development Leadership & Communication β€’ Strong project management and organizational skills. β€’ Ability to present recommendations and performance insights to executives and stakeholders. β€’ Experience mentoring, coaching, or leading marketing team members. β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
