Senior Microsoft Purview Engineer

We are hiring a Senior Microsoft Purview Engineer for a long-term remote opportunity supporting PST hours. This is a highly visible, strategic engineering role focused on enterprise-scale data protection, governance, compliance, and information security initiatives. We are looking for a deeply technical Microsoft Purview expert who can lead architecture, implementation, optimization, and automation efforts across complex Microsoft 365 and hybrid environments. Key Responsibilities: • Architect and deploy enterprise-scale Microsoft Purview solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, and hybrid environments • Design and implement Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, sensitivity labeling, auto-labeling, encryption, retention, records management, and eDiscovery solutions • Build and tune DLP controls across endpoints, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and SaaS platforms • Implement Insider Risk Management, Communication Compliance, Information Barriers, and advanced compliance controls • Develop Purview data maps, lineage tracking, and data catalog integrations • Integrate Purview with Microsoft Defender, Entra ID (Azure AD), Sentinel, SIEM/SOAR platforms, ITSM tools, SaaS applications, APIs, and cloud platforms • Automate governance and compliance workflows using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API, Logic Apps, and KQL • Build dashboards, analytics, and operational reporting using Power BI and KQL • Support regulatory compliance initiatives including GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and NIST • Partner closely with Legal, Privacy, Risk, and Compliance stakeholders to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical controls • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex Purview, DLP, and information protection initiatives Required Skills & Experience: • 10–12+ years of Systems Engineering / Enterprise Infrastructure experience with strong security and compliance exposure • Minimum 6+ years of hands-on Microsoft Purview experience (including legacy Microsoft Compliance / Azure Purview platforms) • Strong expertise in: • Microsoft Purview • DLP (Data Loss Prevention) • Information Protection • Sensitivity Labels & Auto-Labeling • Insider Risk Management • Records Management • eDiscovery (Premium) • Communication Compliance • Data Catalog / Data Map • • Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Azure governance • • Strong scripting and automation skills with PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API • • Experience with KQL, Microsoft Sentinel, and security monitoring/reporting • • Experience implementing Purview end-to-end multiple times in enterprise environments • • Strong understanding of Zero Trust, Identity & Access Management, and enterprise security architecture • • Experience integrating Purview with AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, Salesforce, and third-party security/data platforms is highly preferred • • Experience with AI governance and protecting generative AI platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude, Gemini, and MCP integrations is a plus Ideal Candidate: • Senior-level engineer who can independently lead architecture and technical strategy • Strong communicator capable of presenting technical design decisions to leadership and stakeholders • Able to translate business vision into scalable technical solutions and governance frameworks • Self-starter who can own projects, manage JIRA/tickets independently, and drive initiatives without heavy oversight • Strong documentation, presentation, and design skills • Stable work history with proven long-term enterprise engagements This is NOT a mid-level role.
