Role description
Job Title: Senior Payroll Analyst – Oracle Fusion HCM Payroll Location: Jersey City, NJ (3 days in office ) Duration: Contract 06+ months Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Payroll Analyst to support payroll operations, payroll reporting, compliance, reconciliations, and payroll-related process improvements. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing while providing meaningful analysis, troubleshooting payroll issues, and supporting continuous operational improvement. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll processing experience, payroll data analysis skills, multi-state payroll exposure, and hands-on experience with payroll systems. Experience with Oracle Payroll is highly preferred, although candidates with broader Oracle experience (Oracle ERP, Oracle HCM, Oracle Payroll, Oracle Cloud applications) will also be considered. This role requires a combination of payroll operations expertise, analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong collaboration with HR, Finance, Accounting, Audit, IT, and third-party payroll providers. Key Responsibilities • Process and support payroll activities for multi-state employee populations. • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including salaries, wages, bonuses, commissions, overtime, garnishments, deductions, and benefits. • Review and validate payroll inputs including employee changes, timesheets, attendance records, and compensation updates. • Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, variances, trends, and compliance risks. • Research payroll issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. • Manage off-cycle payroll runs, corrections, retro-payments, final pay calculations, and special payments. • Perform payroll reconciliations and validate payroll results prior to processing. • Support payroll tax calculations, garnishments, statutory deductions, and regulatory reporting requirements. • Prepare payroll reports and dashboards for HR, Finance, and leadership stakeholders. • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll reconciliations and reporting. • Support internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation and reconciliations. • Collaborate with HR, Finance, Accounting, IT, and payroll vendors on payroll-related initiatives. • Participate in payroll system enhancements, testing, integrations, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives. • Maintain payroll controls, documentation, and compliance procedures. • Ensure confidentiality, data integrity, and compliance with company policies and regulations. Required Qualifications • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Payroll and/or Financial Analysis. • Strong hands-on Oracle Payroll experience is required. • Experience with Oracle Payroll processing, payroll reporting, payroll reconciliations, and payroll analysis. • Experience processing or supporting multi-state payroll. • Ability to analyze payroll data, identify discrepancies, troubleshoot payroll issues, and provide recommendations. • Advanced payroll reporting, reconciliation, and payroll analysis experience. • Experience with Oracle HCM Cloud, Oracle ERP, or related Oracle applications is a plus. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. • Strong attention to detail and process orientation. • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis. • Experience collaborating with HR, Finance, Accounting, Audit, and IT teams. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications • Experience supporting Oracle Payroll system enhancements, upgrades, implementations, or integrations. • Experience with payroll audits, reconciliations, compliance controls, and statutory reporting. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
