Senior Power BI Developer

Senior Power BI Developer Location: Schaumburg, IL Schedule: Hybrid (3–4 days onsite per week) Contract Type: 3–6 Month Contract-to-Hire Pay Rate/Salary Range: $60/hr | Salary Range: $110K–$130K Position Overview: We are seeking a self-starting Power BI Developer with 7–10 years of total experience and at least 5 years of hands-on Power BI expertise. This role requires someone who can work independently, prioritize tasks without hand-holding, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll be responsible for building 300+ reports from scratch and shaping the BI landscape. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the full lifecycle of Power BI report and dashboard development • Gather and translate business requirements into scalable data models and visualizations • Develop complex DAX calculations and optimize Power BI queries • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, DBAs, and business stakeholders • Manage and mentor junior BI team members • Ensure adherence to BI best practices in data governance, security, and performance • Support Power BI Service setup (workspaces, gateways, security) • Provide training and support to end-users Required Skills & Experience: • 5+ years of Power BI development (Power Query, DAX, data modeling) • Strong SQL skills and experience with databases like SQL Server, Snowflake, or Azure SQL • Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts • Familiarity with Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse Analytics) • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences • Experience leading BI projects and mentoring team members • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field Preferred Qualifications: • Microsoft Power BI or Azure/Fabric certifications • Experience with DevOps/CI-CD for Power BI deployments • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain • Exposure to Docentric reporting tools • Knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies • Experience with other BI tools like Tableau or Qlik #INDTS
